In August 2017, Mayor Muriel Bowser, Deputy Mayor for Education Jennifer Niles, and DCPS Chancellor Antwan Wilson announced a multi-agency plan to reopen the historic Thaddeus Stevens School as an infant and toddler child development center and an expansion of School Without Walls at Francis-Stevens. DCPS will be convening a Community Working Group of parents, staff, and leaders from the School Without Walls HS and School Without Walls at Francis-Stevens community to inform the planning for the expansion of Francis-Stevens into the Stevens school.
