Foxhall & MacArthur Community Working Group Recommendations

On Friday, June 11, 2021, DCPS transmitted the final Foxhall and MacArthur Community Working Group Recommendations document on behalf of the members of the Foxhall and MacArthur Community Working Group (CWG).  The CWG was convened by DCPS to support planning for the Foxhall and MacArthur school sites. The CWG included parents, school leaders, and community leaders from the Wilson High School feeder pattern and held its first meeting in February 2021. The Recommendations document outlines the options for the site along with clearly articulated trade-offs, preferences, and considerations that the CWG and the broader community have engaged in.  This document is meant to inform DCPS and city leadership decisions on the final program scope for the Foxhall and MacArthur sites.  The final document and supplemental materials are located here.

Military Road ELC School Opening Advisory Group: Meeting #3

To support the school opening and planning for Military Road Early Learning Center, the MRELC School Opening Advisory Group was created earlier this spring. This group consists of local community members, representatives from DCPS schools near Military Road ELC, and broader citywide representatives and will meet regularly until the start of this upcoming School Year 2021-2022. Our membership list here.

For our third meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2021, Principal Hunt shared the updated oak tree logo members previous helped provide feedback on, school colors, and new acorn mascot renderings. We welcomed members of the Military Road ELC Leadership Team, AP Sara Arranz and Manager of School Logistics (MSL) Vernard “Kam” Howard, and invited this MRELC SO Advisory Group to join the upcoming in-person meet and greet on 6/15 at the school. Principal Hunt also shared a hiring update, her Military Road ELC school vision, and stories from Military Road ELC’s sister campus, Stevens Early Learning Center, and their in-person learning this school year. Check out all of the above and the lovely photos in our presentation here. This group will break for summer and resume with meeting #4 in August/September with more school opening updates.

Military Road ELC currently has PK4 seats available. Families can still apply to the Military Road Early Learning Center via a My School DC post-lottery application. Need help with your application? Contact the MSDC hotline at (202) 888-6336.
