MacArthur High School lottery results for SY23-24

DCPS’ newest high school, MacArthur HS, will open in August and enroll students in 9th and 10th grade for School Year 2023 2024. MacArthur will enroll students from the feeder middle school – Hardy MS, within the boundary area, through student placements, and through the My School DC lottery. On March 31, My School DC released lottery results for School Year 2023-2022.

MacArthur’s principal, Dr. Harold McCray and his team have been dedicated in their efforts to engage with prospective students and families through community open houses and virtual meetings. More than 500 students submitted lottery applications to attend MacArthur, and 269 of those applicants ranked MacArthur among their top three choices. With such great demand, MacArthur successfully matched all seats offered in the lottery.

In 9th grade, 75 seats were offered – all were matched by students with a ‘transfer preference’, meaning they currently attend a middle school in the Jackson-Reed HS feeder pattern, either Deal MS or Oyster-Adams EC. 12 of the 75 9th grade seats were reserved for students who meet the criteria outlined through My School DC’s Equitable Access program—all were matched.

In 10th grade, 45 seats were offered, and all were matched, some by students with a ‘transfer preference’ from Jackson-Reed HS. Two of the 45 10th grade seats were reserved for students who meet the criteria outlined through My School DC’s Equitable Access program—all were matched.

The school team is excited to enroll the founding students of MacArthur HS and looks forward to starting School Year 2023-2024! Head over to dcps.dc.gov/enroll to enroll or call (202) 299-5506 for more information.
