On September 24, 2026, DC Public Schools (DCPS) hosted an in-person meeting for the New Middle School on Euclid St Community Working Group (CWG). DCPS School Planning would like to thank Principal Ojeda and Cardozo EC staff members for hosting the group. During the meeting, CWG members workshopped ideas to raise awareness for prospective middle school families and collaborated with their respective school communities to complete an Engagement Plan. CWG members planned at least five events throughout School Year (SY) 2026-27. DCPS School Planning looks forward to providing resources to facilitate these community-led engagement opportunities throughout the year.
CWG members will also use these engagement events to gather feedback from their school communities on specific programming and other priorities to communicate with the new middle school’s principal, once they are in place. These recommendations will be added to the draft Report for Our New School Leader.
CWG members also recapped that morning’s public hearing about Bill 26-12, which discusses the name for the new middle school. We recognize the continued support from Councilmember Nadeau and anticipate updates on DC Council’s decision.
