Updated Information about Enrollment for School Year 2023-24:

MacArthur High School is looking for 9th and 10th grade students for the School Year 2023-24. We’ve set our goals to enroll 200 students for 9th grade and 50 students for 10th grade for our inaugural year.

Who Can Attend MacArthur?

  • In-Boundary Students: MacArthur is the in-boundary, neighborhood high school for all students living in the Hardy Middle School boundary and is the destination high school for all students attending Hardy or one of Hardy’s feeder elementary schools. Students currently attending Hardy, or those who live in-boundary will have a guaranteed right to attend MacArthur and can directly enroll in the school beginning March 31, 2023. A My School DC application is not required. To find your in-boundary school, visit enrolldcps.dc.gov/node/41
  • Other Ward 3 Students: MacArthur is interested in enrolling current students from Deal MS, Oyster-Adams EC, and Jackson-Reed HS (9th grade) to help alleviate overcrowding pressures at Jackson-Reed. Interested students will automatically receive a transfer preference through the lottery. For more information about the transfer preference, visit myschooldc.org/faq/key-terms#faq-Transfer-preference.
  • District-Wide Students: All are welcome to apply! Students who do not attend Hardy MS or live outside of the MacArthur boundary can apply through the My School DC Lottery. Submit your high school application online at https://apply.myschooldc.dc.gov. For more information about applying to high school, visit myschooldc.org/how-apply/applying-high-school
  • Equitable Access Designated Seats (EADS): MacArthur will offer equitable access designated seats in the My School DC lottery. These designated seats are available for eligible applicants who meet specified criteria. For more information about the criteria and designated seats, visit  myschooldc.org/node/49311

MacArthur High School enrollment for SY23-24

MacArthur will accept students for grade 9 (200 students) and grade 10 (50 students) in SY23-24. Current (SY22-23) 8th graders at Hardy MS have feeder rights to MacArthur HS. It is the in-boundary neighborhood high school for students living in the MacArthur boundary (identical to the Hardy MS boundary). Check your in-boundary school at enrolldcps.dc.gov/node/41. Enrollment begins March 31, 2023.

Students who are not enrolled at Hardy MS or do not live in-boundary to MacArthur HS will need to apply through the My School DC lottery. This includes students who live out-of-boundary to MacArthur and are enrolled at Deal MS, Oyster-Adams EC, and Jackson-Reed HS.

Students from Deal MS, Oyster-Adams EC and Jackson Reed HS will be automatically eligible for a transfer preference while applying through My School DC.

Students outside the boundary and feeder pattern should apply at apply.myschooldc.dc.gov.  Deadline: February 1, 2023
