Cardozo Feeder Pattern Middle School Engagement: February and March Meetings
DCPS is hosting two school-level meetings to hear your thoughts regarding middle school planning in the Cardozo feeder pattern. These meeting are for parents and staff of Cardozo EC, Cleveland ES, Garrison ES, Ross ES, Seaton ES, and Thomson ES.
The meetings will be held on February 26, 2019 from 6-8PM at Seaton Elementary School (1503 10th St NW) and on March 6, 2019 from 6-8PM at Cleveland Elementary School (1825 8th St NW).
The content of these meetings will be the same. Attend the meeting at the date and location most convenient for you. Interpretation and child care services will be made available.

Dear Parents, Families, and Friends of New North Middle School,
As we prepare for the opening of the New North Middle School, I am excited to announce that Megan Vroman has been selected as Principal. She is looking forward to welcoming the inaugural class of New North Middle School to a new school in a newly modernized building for the 2019-2020 School Year! For almost four years at West Education Campus, Principal Vroman has worked together with the school’s community to create a world class education for PK3-8 students. Our vision is to inspire and empower lifelong learners by addressing their academic, social, and emotional needs, and we are so excited Principal Vroman will be at the helm of this work for the new middle school.
Megan Vroman has dedicated her life to serving and providing high quality educational experiences for students. She served as the founding principal of Uplift Mighty, a public charter school in Texas, where she served for two years before moving to D.C. After her transition, she supported school leadership teams at a charter network here in the District. She was selected to lead West Education Campus in School Year 2015-2016. In School Year 2016-2017, West EC doubled the city average in growth on PARCC scores in both ELA and math, and increased student satisfaction from 78 percent to 93 percent.
As a former middle school teacher, Principal Vroman is committed to and deeply believes in the importance of a strong middle school experience. She understands that the role of educators is not only to prepare scholars for the academic rigor of college and beyond but also to develop citizenship and social skills that empower change agents for the community and the world. Principal Vroman earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University and a master’s in education from Arizona State University. She also holds an Executive Master’s in Leadership from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.

Final Wilson Feeder Pattern Community Working Group Summary Report
On Friday, February 8, 2019, DCPS transmitted the final Wilson Feeder Pattern Community Working Group Summary Report on behalf of the members of the Wilson Feeder Pattern Community Working Group (CWG). The CWG was convened by DCPS in response to multiple issues of overcapacity at schools in the Wilson High School feeder pattern. The CWG included parents, school leaders, and community members from the 15 schools that make up the Wilson High School feeder pattern and held its first meeting in May 2017. The purpose of this group was to help DCPS identify potential solutions to address the overcapacity issues in the feeder pattern. The report summarizes the process, analysis, and discussions held with members of the CWG, as well as the conclusions reached by the group upon completion of this process.

Citywide Cardozo Feeder Pattern January Planning Meeting Recap
On January 24th, DCPS hosted a citywide meeting for all parents, staff, community members, and other stakeholders on middle school planning in the Cardozo feeder pattern. The meeting was held at Cardozo Education Campus.
During this meeting participants explored current population and enrollment trend data in the Cardozo feeder pattern and discussed the approach to middle school planning and considerations to determine if and when a new middle school is needed in the Cardozo feeder pattern.

My School DC HS Lottery Deadline This Week!
The MSDC high school lottery deadline is this week! Bard DC is hosting one more Open House before this lottery deadline. Join them this Wednesday, January 30th at Francis-Gregory Library (3660 Alabama Ave. SE) from 5:30 – 7:30 PM to take the written assessment and complete in-person interview. Strategic School Planning Advisory Board January 2019 Meeting #3 Recap
The Strategic School Planning Advisory Board (SSPAB) met on January 17, 2019. In this meeting, the school planning team shared the updated planning process and growth plan blueprint as well as Early Childhood Education expansion. Board members shared their feedback on the DCPS decision making process and had discussion about what Early Childhood Expansion looks like in their communities.
