May 2026 CWG Meeting Recap: Design Development Review for New Middle School on Euclid St

On May 13, 2026, DC Public Schools (DCPS) hosted the Design Development Presentation for the New Middle School on Euclid St Community Working Group (CWG). (To read past posts about the new middle school opening in 2028, click on New DCPS Middle School – Euclid St under Categories).

During the meeting, the architecture and design team demonstrated how feedback collected by CWG members from their communities influenced floor plans and design layouts. Learn more about the work of CWG members to collect feedback in a previous post. Feedback that shaped the design development included establishing a second entrance and maintaining building security, adding separation to gendered restrooms, adding permanent shading for outdoor learning, and ensuring building-wide accessibility. CWG members gave their final thoughts on the renderings, color palette, and classroom usage. This was our final CWG meeting of School Year 2025-2026. Over the summer, the DCPS Facilities Planning and Design team will work to finalize the construction documents and will host a community meeting about construction logistics in August.  For more information about the modernization, visit the modernizations page of the DCPS website. The DCPS School Planning team will prepare engagement strategies for the upcoming school year. Feel free to reach out to dcps.planning@k12.dc.gov for further questions or comments
